Alicia's Story

Alicia is from Hacienda Heights, California. Alicia's schools include Los Altos High School, Cal State Fullerton (1973-1976) University of Alabama, Huntsville (1982-1986 night school) Graduated with bachelors degrees in both Accounting and Marketing, with my two daughters yelling "go mom" from the stands. Worked in accounting and finance my entire career, but the last 15 years, I spent at NASA and it was the most wonderful, fulfilling period of my work life. I got married in 1975, moved to Illinois for two years and then to Alabama, where I have been for the past 43 years. Got a divorce after 23 years...my...Expand for more
dad said that he knew it wouldn't last. (wink) Remarried in 2003 to "that guy" from the 30th reunion and have been having a blast ever since. We have four grandchildren, all attributed to my step son. The rest of the grands are the four legged variety. We love to travel; Scotland three times, Italy once, numerous cruises, and anywhere we feel like going. We met ballroom dancing and dance every chance we get. New Orleans is one of our favorite places and we just got back from a quick trip to meet up with a friend from Hacienda Heights. Looking forward to seeing so many friends from the Heights in September.

Here is a photo of Astronaut Nicholas Patrick, STS-130 installing the new cupola, which provides seven new windows in a dome like structure...sort of like getting a new living room with picture windows.
What a beautiful day it was on Saturday. Chip and I loaded up the car and cruised up to Bridgeport, Alabama for a Civil War Re-enactment of the Seige of Bridgeport. It was a brand new experience for both of us. My hat is of
We had a most enjoyable weekend with daughter, Kate who arrived on Thursday evening for a brief visit from New York. I think she misses her roots (and maybe her momma, just a little bit). We talked and did some chores then
Third attempt at painting. My interpretation of Monet's Waterlillies.
I love my job! In addition to working with technology every day we get these awesome e-mails that contain breathtaking photos of solar flares.
Just got back from a wonderful Caribbean vacation with husband and friends. Visited the Bahamas, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. Can't wait to go again. Got to swim with the dolphins and would do it again in a heartbeat.
Brent and Kristine are married! Congratulations to a truly beautiful couple.
Got back last night from the trip to White Sands Missile Range to witness the Pad Abort 1 flight test of the Launch Abort System. It was awesome! The first reports coming back from the post flight recovery team were all t
OMG! I have never had so much fun for charity! This weekend Chip and I went to Talladega to support and raise money for the Gold Star Families. We each got to take two-five lap sessions around the Talladega Race Course. We
Had an absolute blast last night at My Spirited Art. Paula had a "Ladie's Painting the Town" night and we had a wonderful evening of wine, laughter, snacks and of course painting. Here is my latest attempt at painting wit
Turn four was at the north end of the track, 55 feet tall (that is a five story building) and banked 35 degrees. Minimum speed in the turn was 70 mph to keep from falling off the wall. After the first round, I had to reach
What a fabulous weekend for a wonderful and worthwhile cause. We got to meet other Vette owners from all over the county.
Just finished having dinner, dockside, at Lucy Buffett's Restaurant, LuLu's. The food was awesome as usual, the weather was about as perfect as it gets...sunny, 89, gentle breeze and a Jimmy Buffett-esque singer. The last s
There is nothing quite as romantic as a sunset. I am not a morning person, but this sunrise was too spectacular to ignore. I can nap later.
There is nothing quite like going to the beach on vacation and getting over five inches of rain in the first 24 hours for complete relaxation...the sound of the waves, the sound of the rain and the lightning dancing across
Not your typical Saturday afternoon at the Alabama State Capitol in Montgomery. Today we witnessed a re-enactment of the swearing in of Jefferson Davis as the President of the C.S.A. Today marks the beginning of a four yea
